I was at Mediacorp yesterday afternoon for an interview for "Ethiroli", the only Tamil current affairs show on Singapore cable TV! It was also my first time on this campus, and getting here dry was quite the challenge even with all the sheltered walkways from one-north MRT station, because the rain was absolutely pouring. Fortunately the rain gradually eased within the first half hour since I arrived here, and we could proceed with the filming.
I was asked questions about the Ubin life, particularly to share certain impressionable stories that my mom has shared with me, as well as my thoughts on the state's efforts in restoring some of the kampung houses on the island. It was fun having this opportunity and I thank the production crew for featuring me.
I heard from Prasad, the producer who reached out to me, that "Ethiroli" was planning to cover stories on three of our islands, particularly Coney Island (Pulau Saranggong), Sisters' Island (Pulau Subar Laut & Pulau Subar Darat) and Pulau Ubin. These different islands are aired on different days this week, with the one on Pulau Ubin planned to air this coming Friday!
So if you're keen in watching this, especially for our Tamil-speaking friends, do keep a look out for the Ubin episode on Vasantham this Friday at 9.30pm!
