Started in December 2020 , WUJ Heritage Hike is a service which invites participants to explore Pulau Ubin in a whole new light — through the lens of the Orang Pulau community, and to learn about their uniquely rich culture and heritage.

Helpful information on WUJ Heritage Hikes
What can we expect from the hike?
You can stand a chance to learn more about the Ubin Orang Pulau community from one of their descendants and experience the rich cultural and natural heritage that could be found there.
How long does the hike take?
The hike will take about three hours to complete.
I wish to organise an event with parts of your hike incorporated into it. Is your hike customisable?
Yes, but it would incur additional charges.
Where will the hike cover?
The heritage hike covers three places of significance to the Ubin Orang Pulau; (i) Ketuk Batu/ Pekan Ubin (Main Village); (ii) Kampung Sungei Durian, and (iii) Kampung Surau.
Does the cost include bumboat fare?
No. Transportation to, from and within the island (if participants wish to hire a taxi van back to the Main Jetty) is NOT included in this hike. Participants are to pay to the respective individual operators.
Is your hike children/senior-friendly?
Yes, but keep in mind that this hike is of low to moderate intensity. Participants are strongly advised to be physically and medically fit.
What is the total distance covered for this hike?
It would cover about 3 kilometres, to and fro.

Yes. You may refer to the bottom of this page for the list of various schools, institutions and organisations that have participated in my hikes.
How is payment made?
Payment can be made upon completion of the hike via cash or more preferably, PayNow/PayLah. No deposits are necessary.
Advisory
Extreme Heat
In the event of extreme heat (33.0°C and above) during the day of the hike, participants are to take regular water breaks to keep themselves hydrated. Pit stops at public shelters can also be made for additional shade.
Wet/ Inclement Weather
In the event of wet/inclement weather while on Pulau Ubin, participants shall take shelter at the nearest public shelter.

In the event of wet/inclement weather before heading off to Pulau Ubin, participants shall wait for the weather to clear at Changi Point Ferry Terminal. Should the rain continue to persist heavily after an hour, the hike shall be suspended.
Haze/ Poor Air Quality
In the event of haze or other conditions leading to poor air quality, should the 24hr PSI reading be within the Unhealthy range (101 - 200) and above, prior to and on the day of the hike, the hike shall be suspended.
Disease/ Epidemic/ Pandemic Outbreaks
In the event of a virus outbreak or other medical emergencies that may undermine public health and wellness, the hike shall adopt precautionary safety measures implemented by the Ministry of Health pertaining to the conduct of outdoor activities.

Safety Guidelines
Accident and Emergency
In the event of an emergency, the Pulau Ubin Coast Guard will be activated to assist with the treatment. Should the situation be deemed necessary, they will follow up with an evacuation to Changi General Hospital for the nearest medical attention.
Adult Supervision for Young Participants
The heritage hike is a child-friendly programme and is suitable for people of all ages.
However, participants who are under the age of 13 must be supervised by an adult at all times during the hike and while on Pulau Ubin. This includes, but not limited to, the participants' parents, next-of-kin above the age of 13, legal guardian or facilitator in the event of an organisational group collaboration.
