I enjoyed the oral history you can't get elsewhere and learning about Ubin from a cultural perspective and the human costs of conservation policy. Wan, this is super important work! Keep it up!

I enjoyed the personal anecdotes, environmental, cultural and political history shared. I learned the uniqueness of Pulau Ubin: its environmental history and the interesting politics of cultural and architectural maintenance. Wan's passion has ignited me and a friend to embark on our own personal journey to retrace our roots.

I enjoyed learning of the history of Pulau Ubin Malay villagers and to appreciate and cherish our hereditary family roots

If, like me, you associated Pulau Ubin with only ecotourism and adventure, you’ll see the island in a whole new light on this tour with Wan. His Malay Kampung Heritage Walk has everything: culture, romance, ghost stories, architecture, natural history, and policy critique. Wan’s mother and grandparents lived on the island, so this is not some textbook tour but a deeply personal exercise in memory activism. This was quite simply the best heritage experience I've ever had in Singapore.

This is for Wan, you are so passionate, so admirable, so selfless. It’s hard to separate my enjoyment and appreciation of the tour about Ubin’s people from my appreciation of yourself, which really shows that you are Ubin’s descendant. The stories were genuine, heartfelt, not just because you are an extraordinary tour guide but you are a walking museum of so many people that live and have lived on Pulau Ubin. I hope that you know you are always spurred on by these people and that it has amounted to great work and hopefully in the future, timeless work for the people of Pulau Ubin. It was honestly such an enjoyable, powerful, and moving experience it was such a blast, I have zero complaints and you have made my entire week. I enjoyed Wan's explanation of Ubin's social history. I felt that the ending was inspiring and touching too, when he did a call for prayer. [I learned] the importance of understanding and appreciating the interweaving of natural and social histories.

Wan shares Orang Pulau Ubin’s oral, living history with heart, sincerity and expertise. He pulls from sociology, history, ecology to help paint a void picture of life in the kampungs on Pulau Ubin, paying deep respect to those who came before him. I felt so humbled to have been able to learn more about Pulau Ubin’s cultural heritage, and the communities that take care of the land.

I feel deeply inspired by Wan's desire to find out more about his heritage (and also preserve it). Growing up I've been apathetic about who I am and where my grandparents, ancestors, etc. came from and now that I'm older, I feel this very strong desire to try and reconnect and find out more about my heritage; Wan really inspired me to reconnect with my roots
