I feel deeply inspired by Wan's desire to find out more about his heritage (and also preserve it). Growing up I've been apathetic about who I am and where my grandparents, ancestors, etc. came from and now that I'm older, I feel this very strong desire to try and reconnect and find out more about my heritage; Wan really inspired me to reconnect with my roots

Wan is a lovely guide and shared many stories close to his heart; it was clear that this was prepared with much time and effort

I really enjoyed the way you weaved in your personal stories from your community into the tour, and I loved how open you are about sharing with your activism and advocacy efforts. Wan shares Orang Pulau Ubin’s oral, living history with heart, sincerity and expertise. He pulls from sociology, history, ecology to help paint a void picture of life in the kampungs on Pulau Ubin, paying deep respect to those who came before him. I felt so humbled to have been able to learn more about Pulau Ubin’s cultural heritage, and the communities that take care of the land.
