History of House 6J
House 6J is a traditional Malay kampung house built in Kampung Sungei Durian, Pulau Ubin, sometime in the 1980s through the collective effort of the Malay villagers.

House 6J was then occupied by the family of Johari Bin Ali Montail.

Once vacant, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) handed over the house to the National Parks Board (NParks) in 2015.
Chope!
In 2017, it was reported that the National Parks Board (NParks) would be leading the restoration of five identified disused kampung houses into community spaces, including House 6J. At the time, they were still exploring the possibility of allowing individuals or groups to manage them [1].

A year later, in 2018, NParks followed through with an open call for public proposals [2], to which Wan's Ubin Journal responded by reserving House 6J.

However, it was not until August 2023 that the restoration project finally took off—with a full-fledged team of passionate and dedicated team of volunteer youth architects and researchers.
